locked topic

I submitted a post that I was getting some great dialogue and info from then all of a sudden it became locked and the ability to interact was lost. I'm not sure where all the lines are, but it seemed like everybody was within them.

I'm new so could someone shed some light on why a topic might become locked?

    what causes a topic to be locked? Not covered by posting guidelines.

    It's the "Dreaded 10 Replies Rule!" 10 replies and it should be answered.....if not, repost and try again. After 10 replies most posts become topics for the "General Discusssion" board and the Moderator keeps this Board very "Professional!" And its appreciated! So, the topic is "Locked" by Captain Kirk when 10 replies, (more very rarely), are reached.........!

    The Captain is a fair person. Either by accident or on purpose, I've seen him allow a post to go over to 14-15. Maybe because a well-meaning new-be posts three or four times to get their point across instead of adding to their original post.

    I try not to "edit" my posts. Lately, when I goof, I strike the words and leave them for all to see my folly, and apologize for wrong into.
