I can't really give a answer from expierence with the new redfields, but I can tell you the are probably not like the old redfield scopes. A company named Blount bought the name years ago, and that's what you get now. Blount manufactures products in the U.S., Canada, and Brazil, everything from Chainsaws, and lawn mowers, to rifle scopes. There are a number of quality glass makers, out there, but I do love my old redfield widefield. I know of a guy who bought one and got pretty angry because he had some problem with it, I can't recall the model, or problem, but it was a new redfield, if it helps any this guy is kind of an idiot so I didn't take his griping to much to heart, perhaps I should have.

I own several of the older USA made Redfields and i love them.I recently bought a new Golden 5 Star.It works as it should,is very clear, but it says made in the Phillipines on it.In my opinion, not even close to the old ones.Any Redfield scopes i buy from now on will be the old USA made ones.

Redfield name is now under the same company as Simmons if that tells you anything!
And if you have an old Redfield that need a tune-up, call Mike Sexton at Riflescope Service, 918-445-2286 or 918-521-7736. He works on the "original Redfields" and Unertls. GHD

I have hunted with an old fixed 4 power widefield since I started hunting whitetail(about 18 years). Bought a new Widefield 3x9 two years ago. Have had no problems with it. Rifle not here so I can't see where it was made, thought it was made in the U.S.A. but might be wrong. I am happy with the new one though. Bought it from Midsouth shooters supply. At the time they were the only one's who carried the widefield. Good price and nice folks.
