22 long rifle to 22 mag

some years ago a buddy re-chambered a single shot rifle to 22 mag,it turned out pretty good, i have an older charter pathfinder in 22 you think it would be a big project to re-due the cylnder to 22 mag, send it out or try it myself??? billy

  Don't waste your time, the 22 Mag needs about 10-12" of barrel before it will overtake the 22 LR in velocity. A 22LR CCI Stinger out of a 2-4" revolver has more velocity than a 22 Mag from the same barrel lenght.

  I agree with Chris. There is also a problem with the .22lr bore being smaller than the .22mag bore.
