Need help Identifying DBL Barrel shotgun

II have a old double barrel shotgun double hammers .. on trigger part of it says The LPG on the top of barrlels its says the L.P.G DAMASCUS STEEL GUARANTEED GOVERMENT ISSUE TEST AND THEN ON AND THEN AT END ON LEFT BARREL IT SAY CHOKE..IT ALSO HAS SOME GREEK TYPE ENGRAVING ALONG EDGES AND IN BETWEEN BOTH BARRELS .. Any info would really be appreciated !!!

    Welcome to the Ask the Experts Forum...Before I/We can help You, I/We will need a little more information to work with...Would You dismount the Barrels and tell us what is Stamped on the Underside of the Barrels on the Breech End...It there is an Oval with the Letters E over LG in the center...then We'll know for sure that its a Belguim made Gun...If Not...then the Proof marks will tell us the Country of manufacture...and will require a Closeup Photo or a complete and comprehensive discription...And like I always tell people with questions....I/We can only see that which You See...and thru your eyes.....best...

    first remove the forend from the gun, then dismount the BBL`s from the reciever. the area on the underside of the BBL`s, that was covered by the forend, towards the chambers (were you place the shells) will be absolutly covered with makings, proofmarks, and logo`s. this is the area were the lugs are attached to the BBL`s. from these markings, we will be able to approxamate date of production, the choke #`s on the BBL`s, etc...

    95% of belgium arms, pre-WWII, are not marked by the manufacturer, or builder. the belgians worked through a tiered guild system, were only a small number of craftmasters actualy marked there guns. most arms were made piecemeal by various levels of apprentice workers / student artisans. most arms were not marked by brand, or maker because the buyer / wholsaler / arms dealer would place his own "house brand" logo or nomenclature on the gun. the "water table" of the gun may also bear some data.

    i own several belgan arms, including a nice SXS 10 gauge underlever with 34" BBL`s made before 1890.
