    HELLO LABOY !
    I have a Colt New Frontier 22 with alum frame that I have been trying to date. It was given to me used in 1964. The rangemaster is pretty knowledgeable, but he had never seen one with the alum frame. The gunsmith I generally use did not help much, but I don't think he $pent much time on it. If you have any idea of manufacture dates, with or without serial numbers, that would help. Thanks

    All of the Colt .22 S/A gripframes will interchange and they were ALL made of alloy. There was never a production Frontier Scout, Peacemaker or New Frontier made with a steel gripframe. There were several different finishes and the markings on the bottom changed over the years but they are all the same size.

    The New Frontier .22 didn't appear until late 1970. It, and the Peacemaker used the new case hardened steel frame but the gripframe was the same alloy used in earlier years. The person who has a New Frontier .22 from 1964 either really has a Frontier Scout or someone has screwed a New Frontier barrel into a Scout frame ...all New Frontier .22's have a flat top frame and adjustible sights.
