Shipping replica gun from UK to USA
Hi, I'm trying to find a company who will ship a replica metal Thompson SMG from the UK to the USA by airmail. I've asked a lot of companies and they all refuse to deliver anything that even looks like a firearm. Can anyone help me with this?

Some folks have different meanings for the term, "Replica." What do you mean?
Is this a "Model" made from metal that is a "Non-Gun" that can't be fired or made to fire? OR.....Is this a "Firing Replica" that has been made to Thompson SMG dimensions and specifications and operates and fires just like an original Thompson? Just What is it EXACTLY???
Answers to these questions might provide some possibilities!

Its an old 1970's Japanese made non firing replica or "model gun" as they say over there. The reciever and barrel is made from cast alloy but the rest is steel and wood. It can fire brass ammo with plastic explosive "caps" to simulate the action of firing but can't and never will be able to fire a projectile. It's definitely legal to own in the USA without a license and I've even stuck an orange plug in the end of the barrel to show it's a non-gun.
I just can't find a delivery company who will ship it for me. They just say "if it looks like a real gun, we can't ship it"0 -
What you have is not a firearm. Box it up and when you go to ship it if you have to describe it call it a toy.(not toy gun but TOY) I don't know UK laws on non-gun replicas you can ask your postmaster about that. This would be legal in the US. 0 -
Steve45 has the answer! Given what you say, take it to the Post Office and ship it Priority Mail, or even Parcel Post. Pack it very well, leave out any of the "noise making" stuff that lets it work. Describe as "Antique Toy Parts" and disassemble what you can of it easily. If they open for Postal Inspection, it won't be something that "Looks Like A Gun" but only pieces........and it is Legal to ship this way!
Sometimes, we give too much information....... answer the "required" questions but don't volunteer additional info......after all, it's none of their business if it complies with the law! Toy Parts sounds better than "Gun Parts" or...... Get the point? Good Luck!

I think I'll strip it right down and maybe send the barrel/reciever seperatly. Should get through that way hopefully.Thanks for the advice guys. 0 -
I'm about to send antique firearms to the USA. they can be shipped via mail, as far as the US Postal service requires. I beleive same for replicas. The only thing you may need to check on is the customs department in the UK. I needed export permits and supervised packaging to get mine going, however it is an antique. I beleive nothing is required for a non-working replica. 0 -

Arrrrgh!! stripped it down and sent it in seperate parcels and this time they got to the US...hooray! then they sent them straight back to me with no explanation..boo!
This is crazy, its 100% legal to own without any kind of license so what's the problem. Its costing me a lot of money in postage.

This appears to be a toy and not a firearm so I have no clue as to any particular shipping regulations for such items.
