    You forgot the Chinese.

I had a Polish years ago that was virtually new, in unissued condition. Took off the folding bayonet and used it as a sporter till I got tired of and sold it ( put the bayonet, back on ).

There real cheap now, I don't know if one is any better then another?

With Military ball ammo ( machine gun? ), the muzzle blast is ugly. Be sure and wear ear protection.

When you say sporterize, do you mean replace barrel? If so any would be just fine. If not, I would go with the Polish as I feel it shows better worksmanship.

I dont want to replace the barrel. I just want to replace the stock. They have some pretty nice monte carlo stocks on the market.

Then I would go with the Polish as it looks best. But any will shoot fine.

RUSSIAN, from the TULA or IZHEVSK arsenals. wartime production is best. try for 1939-1944 if you can get it. do not buy a gun with "lined out" numbers, a forced floorplate, or a lamanite stock. try for a gun with all matching numbers, a working floorplate, a pre 1944 DOM, and an original artic birch stock.

my dad bought one as described above, and its a fantastic shooter. pay the extra $15.00 for hand select, if you are ordering one. tell them you want a "shooter" as opossed to a pretty gun. best regards, mike.

Hello, if I were you I would try to find an M1938 because it doesn't have the bayonet and they are usually in MUCH better shape wood and metal.
