MEC Sizemaster .410 problem

Brand new press. When I put my 2.5" hull in the resize collet (stage 1) the entire hull, except for .5" drops into the collet. No way my deprimer can reach it. I have no problem with the other 3 sizemasters in 12, 20 & 28. Any help will be appreciated.[xx(]

  I dont have the sizemaster I have the MEC jr. but on mine you have to adjust the height of the press for the difference between 2.5 and 3 inch shells.

  It sounds like either the wrong collet (28ga?) or there's somthing missing inside of the collet.
  You might want to contact MEC.

  look at the back of the press. there is height adjustment for 3" shells and 2.5". you need to lower the press.

  There is a long slender rod,(much like a nail) that is missing from your collet. The thickness of the head,stops the head of the shell at the correct height, so it just misses the rim, and sizes on the shell dia.

  sounds like he has a 3" die set too. those die sets are suppose to have all the gizmos for converting to 2.5. i wonder if it was missing from his kit?
