Scope rings interchangeable?

Please excuse me if this is a silly question but I need to know if "standard" scope rings will fit all makes of "standard" bases. I have several Redfield Std 1" rings that I want to use on other make bases such as Leupold Std bases. Do I need to stay with one makers system or can I switch them around. Leupold makes the base I need and Redfield doesn't so that's why I'm asking.

  REDFIELD AND LEOPOLD (STD.)USE THE SAME SYSTEM, RINGS AND BASES INTERCHANGE.

  That answers your question, but you might want to know that many other bases and rings are not interchangable. Rings useing Weaver bases can use any Weaver bases, but several do not work interchangably.

  While they say that redfield,leupold, and others interchange you should carefully check the fit. I've found some combinations that were either too loose or too tight.

  Mobuck hit on something I have run in to some big problems with the Leupold, Burris and Redfield same setup but will not swap on some with ez
