Mini-14 (Muzzle Brake or Flash Hider)
I just bought a Mini-14 and am quite surprised how much muzzle flash there is from this gun. My friend that was shooting with me thought it was awfully loud. Which is the best to put on this gun a muzzle brake or flash hider and what exactly does each do? Will either of these items help the gun in any way, or are they just cosmetic? Some people have said that they increase accuracy, but dont ask me how. Thanks in advance.

I have tried several on a few of my mini-14's and did not notice any difernce in the report or accuracy of the rifle they look cool
and add an extra inch or so to the barrel which in my opinion
makes it point better,There are a few very important things
you should take note on when choosing one,Look for one that installs by removing the front sight pin sliding on the unit and using the longer pin,MOST will also have a set screw at the bottom AVOID set screws the slight pressure on the barrel might affect accuracy (they did for me) and one other thing DONT thread the barrel for one unless
you are positive its a pre-ban gun.All The above advice is based on my experience with the mini-14[^]0
