Gun comparison question?
Given the chance to buy one of thses 2 what is the majority decision?Glock 30 vs. Smith & Wesson 457S.All things considered which is the better gun or the one one you would tend to trust more.

I own several glocks for a few years and I heard problems with almost every other brand, so far just on my 23 I have 3000 rounds without any kind of problem or malfuntion also an other brand to consider is the Springfiels Armory XD line wich is much like a glock, I own one of those also and they are just as good and about 100dls cheaper!!!!!! my 2 cents! 0 -
I'd personally take the Glock 29 (10mm), but given the choices I'd take the Glock 30.
I'm on the market for a Glock 29 to go with my Glock 20 (also 10mm). I've shot over 5,000 rounds through my 20 without a single hickup. If a gun can stand up to that much abuse from the 10mm cartridge then it gets my vote.

It sounds like a family member is parting with a firearm to his nephew.
So you have two choices. The Glock looks smoother on the draw.
If they were giving you the $$$ for a purchase, and said "Glock or Smith", I'd look at the new Glock 36. Nice and slim. And of course my favorite, the Para Companion Carry-Option.
The Smith? Kinda rough around the edges compared with the Glock.

If you have the opportunity fire both, pick the one that feels and shoots the best.
Both make damn fine pistols.
Big turn-off for a lot of people is the long trigger pull of Smiths.
Lastly there were some feed problems reported in the first couple years of production on the Smith. While I think they were rectified, I've heard of no problems with the Glock.
If you can't satisfy youself on the purported feed problems of the Smith then avoid it ... go w/ the Glock.0 -

I will be carrying a smaller gun with a lower capacity for my CCW uses (most likely a Glock 29 if I can't find a suitable 1076 S&W), but I still think there is a lot to be said for extra firepower. Like the saying goes: "tis better to have and not to need than to need and not to have". If nothing else, it's peace of mind.

Died-in-the-wool, 35 year, Colt 1911 fan. Shot a Glock this year and now own 4! Have put 3500 rounds thru a 17 and a 34 with NEVER a feed hick-up. (Can't make that claim with the Colts, Paras, Brownings or Custom Race gun)
The "Point and Shoot" simplicity makes the Glocks easier to handel under diress as well as easier to teach to a novice.
The addition of a 3 1/2# trigger bar in the Glock gives it a Match gun feel and well worth the $16.
Glock gets my vote.
