colt Mk IV series 80 .380
A friend recently received a colt Mk IV series 80 .380 cal. After disassembling it for cleaning, after reassembling it, the mag wouldn't go in all the way. It looks like the curved piece of metal on the left side,( the ejector?)is preventing the mag from being fully inserted. Also,it is loose, as it will go up and down at will. Can he fix this himself or does he need a gunsmith? How would he fix it if he can. Thanks in advance for your replies

This is a common occurance and the instruction book has a paragraph in it that tells you what to do when this happens. If you dont have the instruction book let me know and I will hunt for mine and post it here. 0 -
Roland,
This is from the instruction manual.
1. Remove the 4 stock screws and stock set (grips) from receiver.
2. Turn pistol upside down.
3. Insert screwdriver through magazine well of receiver and push against top of sear spring until ejector comes free and returns to its correct position.
4. Remove screwdriver from magazine well and reassemble stock set taking care to tighten 4 screws firmly but without overtightening.
When you put the slide back on just push the ejector down far enough to clear the slide or you will have to do it all over again.
Good Luck.

The next time you do this, push it down just enough so it clears when you take the slide off. That way when you put it back together the mag will push it back up where it is supposed to go and you won't have this problem everytime you clean it. This is the way I clean my Gov't pocketlite and It works great. 0
