The best .357 Magnum?

Im just curious as to opinions on this topic.Who makes the best .357 Magnum Double Action Revolver?If price is the deciding factor it looks like its the Colt Python.The best make and model regardless of price?Suited for continuous full power .357 shooting.

    Colt Python, bar none.............BUT..........The new Models are no where near the Old in quality. I bought a late Model Stainless that sprayed as much lead out each side of the forcing cones than through the barell. @ trips to Colt, same problems. I bought an early 80's 4", and it's the same tack driver as my previous Pythons.

    For strength, I would say the Ruger. For action, other than the Python, I would go with S&W. I used to prefer Pythons, but found that they (at least the several I have) do not like the hotter loads. I have several boxes of S&W ammunition that would lock up the Python cylinders every second or third shot. It never happened with the Smiths or Rugers. I sent the Pythons back to Colt several times and was told nothing was wrong with them.

    I was told the Python's cylinder lockups aren't as strong as the Rugers or S&W.

    For continuous magnum shooting I would choose a Smith & Wesson "L" or "N" frame .357. Iam of course partial to Smith's.

    The "K" frame Smith's like the models 19 and 66 even though chambered in .357 wont fare well with constant magnum ammo. The heavier frames can take the punishment better.

    I own a couple Pythons and they are nice shooters also, but I like the smoothness of the Smith actions. The Colts would be my second choice.

    I agree with LL. When all thing are considered, the M27 is the best .357 ever made.

    Python. No question what so ever. Smith's are nice but, not as smooth, not as accurate and they turn backwards.

    If you are talking about current 'production' guns (notPerformance Center or Custom Shop)I would actually give the nod to the new (Norwich, NY) production Dan Wessons. I have or have had all of the S&W 357s (J,K,L,and N frames) most of the Colts (Trooper, MkIII, and Pythons) and there is not a bad one. I also have the three iterations of the Dan Wesson (Palmer, Monson, and Norwich) and have never had a problem with them either. The smoothness of the action, accuracy, strength and the short throw on the new DWs is something that can be appreciated.

    Now if you are talking about 'older' production guns, you just can't beat a Model 27 OR a Python. Each being equal but different.
    Hmmmm... now did I like the Lexus or the Infiniti, see what I mean?

    i'll vote for the old python too. though well built, i must admit, the reason i sold it is it just didnt feel right. the s&w's had a beefier feel that i liked, for my size 10 hand.

    Smith & Wesson fan here. N frame Smiths are what a 357 is all about.[8D]

    First choice, the old style pythons, they are art work. Second choice a S&W 586 or 686, both comfort and reliable.

    Python's still the best looking magnum for me by a long shot. For continuous shooting of magnums though, I'd have to go with a Model 27 or 28.

    The only thing worse than lawbreakers, are lawmakers.
