Model 12 bolt removeal

My Model 12 has started to hangfire. Classic095 said he would try to fix it for me. He wants me to send him the bolt. I need to know how to remove it. Can any body help me out?

    if i had my gun in front of me, i'd talk you thru it, but w/o it, whew....its gonna take a lot of typing! does anyone have the win m-12 service video this guy can borrow? or, if someone is an expert at instruction, go for it!

    Good afternoon. removing the triggerguard assy. is easy, remove the screw in the trigger guard bow area and lift the assy out. Carefull, not to pull back towards the stock, you may chip the wood if the butt stock is still on. Now make sure the bolt is all the way forward, you can do this by just pushing on the back of the bolt with your finger on the base of the firing pin. Look at the rear of the bolt on the solid side of the receiver you will see the end of the ejector that has a flat spring that runs in behind the bolt. With a tiny flat nose screw driver, put the flat blade between the ejector and flat spring, with a little twist, lightly pop the rear of the ejector out of it's groove. Now release the bolt let it come about half way back, lift from the rear, and it's out.
    Now that the bolt is out, push on the firing pin at the rear of the bolt. it should travel forward and back when you release it, nice and smooth. If not clean it, by leating it soak in some sovent over night, and blow it out with air. Try moving the pin again, if it moves roughly, it may be broken. Let me know how it turns out.

    Unless you have a Model 25 Winchester, the firing pin won't move. On a Model 12 you have to push down on the firing pin release on top of the bolt. If your fireing pin moves forward with-out depressing the release your firing pin is likely broken.

    i cann't think of any thing in the bolt that will or can cause a 'hang fire' (clik........bang) this sounds like a trigger group problem. still your question is how to remove them bolt from your m-12. remove the trigger group and shell stop, remove the barrel assembly, remove the ejector as discribed above, look down into the receiver on the oposite side of the ejection port you will see a small 'teatter/totter looking part (bolt lock), flick this the other way to releas the bolt, move the bolt back to aline with the widest part of the receiver and lift it out.

    I agree with Mike-Don't see how its a bolt problem. In any event, the bolt lock Mike refers to will show on the underside of the bolt and will appear as two rectangular tabs about 1/8" by 3/16". It will not look like a lever when you view it since it pivots on the side of the bolt.

    Heck, I thought you were talking about the M-12 REM 22RF pump. The older ones had flat firing pin that was prone to breakage and would cause misfires. Oh well!
