HELP WINCHESTER 70 SUPER GRADE ?

    Take this rifle to a legitimate gun shop and see what they will give you for it.

    Add about 40% and you will know what it is worth.

    pahrumpaloon, I think the part of the receiver you refer to as the back is what we commonly call the tang. Your rifle was produced during a period of transition of styles and I believe either shape of the tang could be found on either standard grade or Super Grade rifles. The Super Grade will have Super Grade stamped in the floor plate where visible from the outside. Some, but not all of the Super Grade barrels from the date of yours were stamped Super under the barrel and maybe on the barrel under the Winchester markings. I once owned a pre-'64 model 70 that was in a an authentic Super Grade stock but it was not a Super Grade rifle. I don't know how the receiver got into a Super Grade stock but the stock did not make it a SG. FWIW
