Case XX machete

I have received a Case xx folding machete and was told these were carried by the airforce during WW2. it is in very good shape and has a metal removable guard which protects the blade. Do any of you know anything about these and what are they worth.

    Good Evening Snowshoe" SURVIVAL MACHETE, Army Air Force: Adopted in 1942 as a New Air Force Survival knife. Most of them folded and were usually carried in the seat pack kit attached to the parachute harness. Case made the Folding type as well as the Non-Folding..With the Leather Fold Over Scabbard and in Excellent Condition are Worth in Excess of $150.00...The Scabbard is the hardest to find if in need of one...I had two scabbards and sold one for $100.00...to a man in Phoenix who went away smiling to himself....he'd been looking for one for 3 or 4 years.......

    Thanks Capt. that is a lot more info than I had. I don't have a scabberd for mine and don't think I will look very hard for one at that price. I think I will put this one up for auction and let the new owner look for one. Thanks

    Snoeshoe, As to the collectible value, condition means a lot. Case made both folding and non folding. Others were Imperial, & Camillus. I've seen them for $85-150. The leather sheath Type A1 seems to fit Imperial better, I guess all models will fit. Having the metal blade guard is a plus. They were adopted in '42 for the Army Air Force. Correct term to use if you put on auction is FOLDING MACHETE, Army Air Force Survival knife.

    Case Knife is now owned by Zippo Lighter Company. You might want to contact them and see what they say it is worth.

    I did good then, I have 2 of the Camillus folders that I keep in the door pockets of the trucks. I was at a weekly flea market last year and saw the metal blade cover. Seller asked me if I knew what it was and offered it for 10$. I told him I did and what it was for, gave him 15$. He was happy and I am too.
