Savage Model 99 Lever Action Repeating Rifle...Introduced in 1899, This model has been produced in a VARIETY of Styles and Calibers..The original designation "Model 1899" was changed to "Model 99"circa 1920..Earlier rifles and carbines--similar to Models 99A, 99B and 99H, were supplied in calibers 25-35, 30-30, 303 Savage, 32-40 and 38-55... Post-WWll Models 99A, 99C, 99CD, 99DE, 99DL, 99F and 99PE have top tang safety: other 99's have a slide safety on right side of trigger guard. Currant Models 99C and 99CD have a detachable magazine instead of traditional Model 99 Rotary Magazine... My data base shows No Prototypes in existance...very Possible that You have one of the early Model 99's made prior to 1920..

With the patent date you mention, it is a Model 1899, and my bet is the what you are reading as "25.050" is really the serial number 25,050 (which indicates the year of manufacture as 1903)
The barrel is actually eight-sided (octagon) versus six-sided (hexagon) before it transitions to a round section of the barrel.

I agree with Bert H, I'm willing to bet that you have a Model 99, and in Good Condition is worth $400.00 and up...and the UP means Condition, Checkering, Engraving, Wood, Sights, Caliber, Blueing...and just what Model You actually have....
