LC Smith 10 ga Double Barrel (Age/Worth?)
I have a LC Smith 10 ga DB damascus that my grandfather bought used sometimes in the early 1900s. I would like to get a manufacture date if possible and an approximate worth. The serial number is 146898 which is stamped on the barrel, receiver, and forearm. The gun is well used and has been refinished. It provided a lot of ducks, squirrels, and rabbits, the staple of country folks in Arkansas back in the old days. Thanks for any help. This site has a lot of knowledgeable folks and your help is appreciated.

A hammer gun with that # should be about 1905. I'm afraid with the condition you describe (well worn, and refinished) the value would be minimal (100-150) as a wall hanger. What you do have is a priceless piece of family heritage that should be treasured.

Punchie is right on, though I didn't look up the d.o.m.
Field gun, damascus, lot's of use... Great family heirloom, but not much else.
