Improving a Marlin 25MN trigger....

    Yes. I have lowered the weight of two Marlins by removing the action from the stock, taking off the trgger, and replacing the trigger spring with a Pentel(sic) mechanical pen spring. One was a 25 17HMR and one was a 782 .22lr.. The .17 was pretty good, the .22 was great. I would not monkey with the sear engagements and such. I know someone who messed up a .17 Savage rpoetty good doing this. Try it, if it don't work for you, put the spring back in, nothing lost. I have got good reports on the Rifle Basics triggers too.
