Frommer 1912 Stop pistol jamming

Have one in 32acp. It has an aftermarket repro mag. The damn thing jams every shot. It wont feed cartridges right. I think its either the return spring(which does feel a bit anemic) or the magazine since some arent reliable. Where can I get a new spring set for it(numrich is out)as well as a dependable repro or original mag.

    I would wager that the bolt carrier recoil spring is worn out. That coupled with the non-OEM mag would probably cause the rounds to stovepipe. You can probably have a set of springs fitted for it by a gunsmith if you can't find replacements. Frommers are neat little pistols but hard to find parts for

    Not stovepiping at all. I dont have failures to extract, only to feed. I have to push the bolt forward manually to feed it a fresh round since it gets about 1/2 the job done under its own power.

    Weak springs still. Might also polish the undersides of the feed lips on the mag, as you know a lot of those aftermarket mags have a pretty rough finish inside. The semi-rim on the .32ACP cartridge will dig in on any roughness.

    This pistol is marginal in a lot of respects. One of them is that there is a narrow range for the hammer spring between "not strong enough to fire the primer" and "too strong to let the action work freely". Sometimes you find that someone has put a piece of metal under the trigger spring at the bottom of the hole the spring goes into to "make it stronger". Check that, check for too strong a spring, and try polishing the areas where the hammer rubs on the boltcarrier during cycling. Also, is the gun clean and well lubricated with a light oil?

    Another thing to try which is easy is to change ammo. Try to find some european MFG ammo. Typically it is loaded to higher velocities, usually with a 73 grain bullet rather than the 71's used here and may give you enough oomph to work the action properly. S&B, Fiocchi or RWS come to mind.

    you can use the recoil spring guide sleeve to adjust bolt return spring....might help..might not...mine had a similar problem..sprimg was to tight to let the bolt strip off a round from mag

    I used Fiocchi from teh get go adn it didnt work, then tried some UMC and it didnt work either. I just think I am going to get a new sprign put in her. The insides are all polished (did that trick when I reblued her) and the mag isnt rough for once.
