sight in... slug gun
fellows, i have a 12ga. to sight in for 100 yds. the load is as follows... 3" 1oz. barnes expander hp slug. how high should it be,at 50 yds to be on at 100yds? thanks to all

start close to get it on paper. zero it. then move it back and check.

I assume the question is "How high do I have to be at 50 yards to be zero at 100 yards when I sight in at 50 yards?". I'd suggest going to the ammo manufacturer's web site and see if they have any mid range ballistics data then use that height for sight in at 50 yards. 0 -

Take a look at the box your slugs come in -- might say. I shoot Remington Buckhammers. On the box, it says -- with these -- you need to be 1.8 inches high at 50 yds to be dead on at 100 yds.0 -
Since slugs group about 3" at 100 yards (I know some of you have 1/4" slug guns that pile them on top of each other). just sight it in so the center of the shots of a 5 round group are about one inch ABOVE the midpoint of the target at 50 yards. That is good on deer out to about 125 yards. 0 -
I'd go with 1.5 / 2" high at 50 yards.. but thats just me [:)]

My slug gun shoots about 2.5 low at 100 with a 50 yard zero. This would be about the same as your hearing so far. My 2
