High Standard 22 Question

I think that this question might be alittle on the dumb side but here goes. I have a High Standard 9 shot 22 revolver,Model is a Sentinel, serial number is on the right side just above the forward trigger guard, there is R - 103 and just below that is 1232654. Do these shoot the 22 mag shells??? I have a box of mag shells which I think were given to me when I got the gun. It shoots 22lr very well so I was asking because I don't want to fire it if it doesn't shoot them. The cyclinder is 1 1/2 inches long. Thanks for any info on this 22 revolver. Fun little gun, but loud.

    I hope I'm not going out on a limb here and saying DO NOT FIRE .22 WMR ROUNDS THROUGH THIS PISTOL! The Sentinal as I know it is a .22LR only. You would need a cyclinder for .22WMR to fire that round. I do not know if High Standard makes one.
    A good example of this is the Ruger Single Six, that comes with both .22LR and .22WMR cylinders.
    Besides, you can buy high velecity .22LR rounds that come close to .22WMR velocities. It isn't like you're getting a whole lot more punch with a .22WMR. -good luck

    some of those guns came with 2 cylinders, one for LR and one for magnum rounds. did it have 2 cyl's when you got it? maybe john s. can tell us what to look for to tell if you have a mag cyl in there right now.....

    Hello the outside case diameter of a 22 MAG is larger then 22 LR. in otherwords if both will fit in the cyl. then most likely it is a MAG cyl and you should not shoot 22lr in that cyl.if a 22mag will not fit then most likely it is for the 22 lr.

    The R-103 is one of the Sentinels with an aluminum frame and as such is not suitable for the .22 Mag cartridge. A .22 Mag cartridge will not fit your revolver if it has the original cylinder.

    Bobski is correct that there were some that came with two cylinders one for .22 S, L, & LR and one for .22 Mag. Some were also sold with only the .22 Mag. cylinder. The Sentinel MK IV introduced in 1974 was the first Sentinel to have the magnum cylinder Note the .22 Mag revolvers all had steel frames with aluminum trigger guard/grip frames.
