Is a marlin .35 caliber lever action any good?

My dad got me a marlin .35 caliber rifle for an early christmas present and i was wondering if there any good

    They are a VERY good gun for fairly close work on deer,bear,hogs,prolly even elk if not too far away.short range compared to say a 30-06,but they do the job they are designed to do...brush gun.

    35 Remington is fine out to about 125-150 yards and the 200 grain factory ammo is the way to go. If you handload then you have some other options.

    The Marlin line has an illustrious history in American firearms and the .35 Remington is an excellent, proven, cartridge for most North American game within 150 or so yards. You are a lucky son! Brandon, sounds like your Dad knew what he was doing - why don't you do him the honor of asking *him?* And indirectly showing your appreciation for his gift . . . . Not a wiseguy answer and perhaps you already have done this - but think about the "karma" if you have not.

    In a "woodsy" hunting area, there isn't a much better outfit than a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington for hogs, deer, black bear, and even the occasional moose.
