Blueing,Parkerizing, and Nickel Plating
Can anyone explain Blueing, Parkerizing, and Nickel plating i.e. Why its done, pros and cons of each, and pricing? Thank You.

Hello the "why" in all cases is to protect the gun from the elements The cost is probablely highest Nickel Plateing then blueing then parkerizing is the cheapest . The final polishing has to be very good to make nickel look good blueing can be the old type RUST blueing this is very labor intensive and hot blueing is quicker but you still need good prep.parkerizing is fast and the finish of pistol does not need to be as good when you start. Pro's parkerizing will take a beating and keep on ticking. Blueing looks good Nickel looks great to some people on some guns. Con's only a few people think parkerizing looks good.Blueing will rust if not oiled and nickel might not be the best for hunting or combat "too easy to see" this is all my opinion and your mileage may vary. 0 -
