    I have 2 the 500 and 500A. Never had issue with either. Good gun for the money.

    When the meekest of men raise their fist at you in defiance, you have lost. It is just a matter then of admitting it to yourself.

    I think the 500's a very good gun for the price.Mine is an oldy and it's still going strong,as is my buddy's 500.

    Never heard a bad word about then.Not fancy but a great hunting gun. love the tang safety

    The Mossberg 500 is a very good shotgun for the money, and the tang safety is a plus for lefty's.
    It's not the prettiest but it sure is serviceable.......

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    My first pump shotgun was a 500, I now have a newer version and the pump slider is tight and alot quieter.Very good gun for the bucks,works well with all three barrels I have for it. I perfer my 835 for turkey, reaches out with heavy shot just a little farther.

    In 28 years of repairing guns I've seen a lot more Winchester and Remington pumps give trouble than the Mossberg 500. Biggest problem with the 500 is that *&^%()#$ plastic safty button. It keeps breaking, escecially up here in cold weather.

    I've got 2, both have suffered incredible abuse (100rnds thru one when the action was full of sand, etc), and still work fine, no issues except they are now ugly looking. Guess I need to get another can of BBQ-Black spray paint.

    Best American-Made shotgun for the money.
    Got my 1st in '72 (12ga), 2nd in 88 (20ga), and a 590 in '89 (12ga).
    Only "problem" I ever had was with the 12ga 500's safety button; I misplaced the plastic cover while cleaning the darn thing, and just screwed it down tight on "fire". Since it's a house gun; I don't worry about whether the safety's on or not.

    I liked mine,but decided I wanted a Wingmaster magnum.Bad choice.[V]

    Wish I had it back,but now I've got an Ulti-Mag,so I guess it'll have to do.
