Limbsaver recoil pad
Anyone have experience with the Sims limbsaver recoil pads? I got a Ruger M77 compact and the stock is a little short for me. Bought one of the Limbsavers off GB Auction but haven't received it yet. According to the Sims website, the pad is about 5/8" thicker than the one from the factory and should help my LOP. By the way, if it reduces the recoil of my .308 handload, it will be a definite asset![:)]

I've used a couple of dozen of them on rifles for various reasons. The ones that are made to fit certain rifles need only a bit of adjustment while the grind to fit can require some time to get fitted correctly. They are soft and usually need the freezer in between grinding sessions, no big deal. I use some form of lubricant for getting the final finish right. I'm still experimenting with this.
It is a great product that does as it advertises.

Thanks, I was hoping I made the right decision. Gander Mtn wanted $80 to install one and I got one for less tha $30 on GB. It is the "fitted" one, but I suspect the 'smith at GM would use the same thing and charge for "grinding". I measured my rifle stock and compared it to the specs on Sims' website- almost exactly the same dimensions.

I've got the slip-on limbsaver for my slug gun, and it tames that recoil BIG TIME. Your worries are over. Since it's soft rubber it can be a bit "sticky" though(grabs onto your clothing sometimes), but it's worth it. 0 -
they work very well on recoil as do the kick-eez pads.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
