WASR-10

im looking into buying a Romanian WASR-10, are these good, reliable rifles like other ak models?? if not what is better for under $450, Russian?? Yugo??

    Is a WASR-10 any good? I know it is an AK variant, but don't know much about it. It has the one piece butstock with the built in pistol grip with a big cutout in the middle. Is it legal to change this to a regular butstock and pistol grip? What other modifications can I make legally?

    are you sure your barrel is not bent? there was a guy on another fourm that had a kit that was run over by a tank,..had a bent barrel and all,...a hyd. press and a few trips to the range got him squared away

    Best way is to have a gunsmith look at that thing. He can tell you what he thinks before he charges you too much. And maybe you won't

    Some of these came with canted front gas blocks/site posts.

    Google a search for 'wasr10 canted gas block'.

    You got one of the bad ones. Get rid of it.

    I took it to a gunsmith today. So far nobody can figure out what is wrong by looking at it. They will have to fire it.

    I was shooting only at 25 yards! I imagine it would get worse with more distance. It was shooting about 12 inches low and to the right from my bench rest!

    I 'd shoot it some more. The triggers on these guns are aweful and require a couple 1000rds to smooth out. Maybe let a friend that is a good shot shoot it. That rear sight is a pita to see / line up.

    I don't think they are meant to be tack drivers but hell if it doesn't improve soon and you bought it new, call Century up and complain. Hell do it right away, send it back to them.

    I've had good luck so far with Century Romanian AK's. My SAR1 shoots as good as my milled Bulgarian SLR95 and my Wasr10 is ok. It more or less shoots at point of aim. Both guns have definately broken in.

    You can almost buy 3 of these Romanians for the price of one Arsenal. moon.gifmoon.gif
