Colt 31 caliber pistol

I have a Colt 31 cal pistol that I believe to be circa 1836. All sn on frame and barrell match and seems in vg condition. The engraving on the cylinder is somewhat worn appearantly from holstering, I would like to know what the gun is worth as i would like to sell. I also have a second Colt which i believe to be a 41 or 44 caliber. There are no markings other than sn on barrell and frame which match, The cylinder on this one is also engraved. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can post pictures if necessary as soon as I learn how to on this site.

    The makers' name should be on top of the barrels.

    A Date showing as 1836...would more than likely mean its a Patterson Colt....WE really need to have a Photo....as You could be talking some very Serious Money here...

    I am trying to post some pictures on here but having no luck. Inscribed on top of the barrel is "ADDRESS COL SAM_L COLT NEW-YORK USA AMERICA" I found some paperwork last nighr that my Dad wrote when he did some research on the gun. It reads as follows: Colt 1849-1850 pocket pistol cal.31 5" barrel 6 shot, sn 266149.
    I e- mail photos all the time and can do that if you want to see them. I can't get them inserted in this forum for some reason.

    Colt Model 1849 pocket model. The cylinder scene should be a stagecoach holdup. By the serail number, it was manufactured in 1864. Can't say any more without a full description regarding condition, amount of case & blued finish, silver on backstrap, and whether all numbers match on frame, barrel, cylinder and grip strap. You need to upload pics to a picture website such as photobucket.com and post the links here.

    Yes, it's a Model 1849 pocket model as I previously posted. In the condition yours is in, they appear to be selling in the $900-$1200 range, possibly a bit more to the right Colt buyer. Do a smart search on closed auctions that actually sold and you can get an idea what to start yours for.
