too many?, this is a rehashed nobel shotgun (S&W bought Nobel, & dmned if I know why). I it works-good if it doesn't-junk it. 0 -

As Mike W. stated, the metal was porous, wood cheap, very poor quality...Not many left that work. Very prone to breakage, had two to many...imo,,,,nambu 0 -
Well , I bought one of these back in 1979 (apx.) @ a 'tempo' store , a 'mart' type store ...ant how it was mis-marked (common with this store ?) @ 79.95 , used it for years then started using mossbergs (still do) to hunt with and the s&w 916 ended up in my gun safe ? a few years back , I dug it out and sold it for a franklin , still in good cond. and never had any problems at all ??? they also made a 916T model , with a take off barrel instead of the fixed barrel .
No idea how many they made , maybe look in the blue book ???

I have a 12 ga. S&W Mod 3000 pump with two barrels (slug & vent rib) made for them by Howa Firearms in Japan.Beautiful shotgun.I do realize this is a different model.[:)]

The 3000 is a different animal as ATF states. Much better quality/ I messed with the Smith shotgun line in the 80s and the 916 is just junk,,,imo..nambu 0
