Sights for a Bushy?
OK, folks, I'd not planned to buy a "black rifle" in the near future, but was offered a deal too good to pass. Fortunately Momma isn't around and won't know about it when it arrives . . . teach her to leave me alone! [}:)]
But moving along to the topic at hand . . . .
The Carbon 15 Type 97 comes with no sights of any kind, just the rail, leaving the field wide open (no pun intended).
I am going to revisit the recent American Rifleman article on the various systems presently being used by our troops, but I would be most interested in the views of those with more experience in this realm.
It is highly unlikely I will use this at distances > 200 yards and highly improbable, unless TSTHTF, after true dark - I don't live in Hurricane Alley, nor along the Rio Grande, thus night-time varmint hunting opportunities seldom occur.
So what do you have and why? Red Dot, laser, holographic, what?
Equally important, what problems have you encountered, what products would you avoid if you had it to do over again (I'm not adverse to profiting from others' misfortune! [;)] )?
Any suggestions on mount systems which would give me an iron sight backup in the event the electronics failed?
Or pure optical sight if the batteries go bad?
Hadn't done a lot of research on this because I hadn't planned to buy for another year or so . . . but now that I have the rifle coming, it is downright obscene not to shoot it! [8D]

What? No opinions / experience, guys?
I figured CK would have this locked by midnight due to the volume of answers?
Give the old fart ammo collector the benefit of your black rifle expertise, please!

Olympic Arms makes a short 6" rail with sites made for their OA-93 pistols. It mounts directly to the rail and has standard pistol type sites. It retails for ~$90. I cant find it online but if you download their cataloge it is in there http://www.olyarms.com/?page=shop_online
Just remember there are no stupid questions, just stupid people asking questions.
Anyone who would sacrifice freedom for security deserves neither!!!
