38 long colt---

Is 38lc ammo readily available or is it semi-obsolete? What would be the value?

Hello, Midway has Black hills at $14.99 a box. The older 2 piece boxes sell well for $30-50. Those Remingtons 10-20.

is this the same ammo as 38 S&W? i get confused on those older carts.i have a old top break H&R 38 S&W,will it shoot this ammo?thanks don

ddhotbot This is a different round than 38 S&W. It is a longer cartridge.

Pearyw is correct. Also the 38S&W cartridge is larger in diameter and will not chamber in the 38 colt chamber. The groove diameter of the 38S&W barrel is .361.

38 Long Colt has case length ABOUT 1.01, 38 special about 1.15. However, I THINK the bullet diameter is the same. If so, you should be able to trim 38 special brass. As mentioned, the 38 S&W REALLY is a 38, where the 38 Long Colt and 38 Special are .357 bullet diameter.
