Questions Regarding Ownership of a Thompson

Earlier there was a discussion about the problems of a non-registered NFA weapon. Yes, if it is not registered, it is currently illeagle. However, there is one thread of hope. In the past there have been three amnesty periods when the federal government allowed previously unregistered weapons to be registered and retained. There is a quiet movement afoot to pursuade the current administration to hold another amnesty period. All of you folks might consider writing you President and those Congressmen and Senators who we know to be support of such a measure. Just a thought -- Steve

  I highly doubt that there will ever be another amnesty period.
  
  That being said, If I had a unregistered NFA weapon, I would be very hesitant to start writing congressmen and senators pushing for an amnesty period, especially if you lived in a unfriendly gun state. You might end up getting a visit.
