08 Luger clones?

I got my 1911A1 clone (Kahr) because I didn't want to pay Colt collector prices for a good looking shooter.

Ditto on the P1 instead of a collector P38.

So for my next possible purchase, are there 08 Luger clones out there?

    I'm not aware of any Luger clones being made currently. The Luger is very complicated to manufacture and has an intricate working system, hence it is one of the least copied guns in history

    Not to mention that they require skilled handfitting to operate reliably, & the Third World "firearms technicians" earning $2 a day aren't up to the task.

    Mitchell Arms made a stainless steel clone a few years ago, & you may find one. But, they weren't especially reliable or well built.

    The best you are likely to find is a Russian "dipped" refinished gun in the $500-600 range. But, check out the usual pawn shops & gun stores, as war trophies occasionally turn up, sometimes at a bargain.

    Stoeger and Mitchells had soem stainless ones a few years back but they are still about 600-700 bucks around here in excelletn conditon. You can get an Erfurt Luger for that most of the time in nice shape.


    You could look into the Baby Lugers made by ERMA in Germany during teh 60's. They come in 22lr,32acp, and 380acp. They run around 400 bucks in great shape but arent as nice as the real deals.

    Interarmco sold modern Mauser made, Lugers in the '70s in both calibers.
    They were well finished. Not being a collectible, you might find one
    in a lot better shape and more reasonably priced.
