Savage Bolt action in 257 Roberts ?

A couple months ago I saw a Savage, new in the box, bolt action synthetic stocked rifle in 257 Roberts on the GB auction. It got me thinking so I went to the Savage website and they don't list it as a chambering in their rifles? What gives, anybody know of these?
Being a big fan of the 257 Roberts I've thought about building one for years, own one in a Ruger ultra light but would like to have another, this Savage got me wondering who else is chambering for 257 Roberts these days?

    might be like one of the special edition remingtons. as for who else chambers it, i don't think any major american arms maker besides ruger makes it. every once in a while remington puts one out, the classic, the lew horton and the mountain rifle come to mind. i would have to say that the encore probably has a barrel in this caliber, but beyond that, i would say you will have to wait on remington. i want something new in 284 myself. btw, i HAD one of those ultra lights in 257 myself. as it nears rifle season here, i kick myself that i didn't hold on to it. guess i will have to use the 06-blah. too much rifle for the deer around here that seem to get ever smaller.

    Thanks bperdue. Sounds like you are looking for an oddball too. I've got a real nice Ruger flatbolt in .284 that my dad bought new when it came out but I could never part with it.[;)]

    I would sure have liked to get a hold of that one! It could have come out of their custom shop. The only other maker, besides Ruger, that puts them out, and it is limited/seasonal as they say, is Winchester. They go, I think, before they hit the shelves. Great caliber.

    www.midwayusa.com lists Adams& Bennett replacement barrels for savage 110 bored in .257 roberts. May be others, used to have a kit that included the wrench needed, ect. Seems that was the way some of the rarer calibers were showing up on savage.

    ..pre -64 Model 70's and Remington 722's were in 257 Roberts. Have a sweet 1952 issue model 70 in 257 and always lookin for a nice 722. The old stuff still functions great, speaking as an old fart who is still functioning...
