Winchester Model 24 SxS

I am the new proud owner of a well used Model 24. It is a 12Ga., one barrel full, and the other modified chokes.

I have always wanted a SxS, a complication of too many John Wayne movies. I am not much of a shotgunner. More of a rifle man.

What would be the primary use for this shotgun? It has 28" barrels, so I am thinking birding.

Wife just turned the channel, and a John Wayne movie is on!

    Hello timmac: Lead, non-toxic shot would be Bismuth or Tungsten/Matrix, As Nord said NO steel, or Hevi=shot or any one of the other steel hybreds.

    Md 24's all had 2 3/4 in chambers, the standard lead load was 3 3/4 Drams. Eqiv. on 12 ga. believe 3 1/4 Drams Equiv. on 16 ga. and 3 on the 20ga. Winchester Proof Tested at 150% So any standard 1 1/4 oz lead load for 12, 1 1/8oz for 16 ga. and 1 oz. for 20ga. of todays loads are fine.
