cutts compensator spreader choke
i have a cutts compensator on my 1948 winchester model 12,how can you tell if it was put on at the factory or added on later.also i saw a spreader choke for sale.how tight is this choke.i allready have a mag full and a super full cutts compensator choke.thanks bridgebuilder41

The spreader tube for a Cutts is the most open tube you could get. It was THE tube skeet shooters used. There are also tubes in improved cylinder and modified.
The answer to the other question is: hard to tell without seeing it and might not be able to tell then!

its factory installed if there is no choke mark on the bbl under the bbl i.d.. left side. a spreader is wide open close to 'CYL' choke.

Had a M12 20" barrel w/Cutts Compensator and no choke tubes (courtesy of US Army). It gave a great pattern, with high base 4s & 5s, on close-in rising pheasants 0
