Star 9mm + P ?
Im hoping to get some help. I own a Star BM 9mm with a steel frame, its a great gun and very accurate. My question is this, is it o.k. use + P ammo in this gun? If I remember correctly some one here on the forum said that it is not advisable. Also, how about JHP ammo? Any input from the experts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

All 11 of my Star 9mms feed Speer 115gr Gold DOTs fine. If yours does not, try the Cor-Bon Powerball or even the Federal Expanding Full-Metal Jacket (EFMJ). 0 -
You don't have to practice with plus p. Under combat stress, all skills degrade so badly that there will be no misses caused by your practicing with standard ammo, and carrying plus p for defense. The misses will be caused by your nervous system's failures. You should of course testfire the gun and all 'duty" mags with the carry ammo, maybe fire 20-50 rds of carry ammo per year, to test reliability, test expansion of the jhp on animals, and to check your sight-zero. It's smart to do most of your practicing with a spare gun, saving wear and tear on the carry gun. 0 -
Has anyone found a buffer that works on the BM? I used a colt 1911 buffer on the model B and it worked fine. You would definitely need stronger springs and it would probably pound the frame, too. I had one model B that had been "throated" by someone in it's past life as a south of the border police issue. It blew out the side of a case, split the grips, and swelled the magazine until I had a heck of a time getting it out. That might be something to look out for with +P ammo.
