Winchester Model 1890-odd markings?

I just picked up a 2nd model (22L) 1890, 1901 manufacture, that has 3 odd markings on it. Unbelievably, Schwings book was of no help this time.

On the lower front of the receiver, where the mag tube enters, there are 3 stampings. At 6 o'clock is what looks like a 6-pointed asterick or star, at 3 o'clock is the letter "A", and at 9 o'clock is what looks like an upside down "L",backwards "7",or possibly a hard to read "F".

Can anyone give me some info?

    Hello vepr762,

    You simply just did not read Ned's superb reference book closely enough. The three stamped marks on the front of the receiver are the Polishing inspector, the Bluing inspector, and the Assembly inspector, and they indicate that the rifle passed through those inspections.
