Colt 1860 Army value?

About 10 years ago I purchased an authentic Colt 1860 Army Revolver(modern make) sort of as an investment. It is still in the box and remains in unfired condition. No rust or corrosion of any kind. The only "special" feature is an engraved, gold-filled Sam Colt signature on the backstrap. I'm not sure if this was a standard feature at the time or not. I was hoping that someone could give me an estimated current value of this fine gun. S.N. # 215875. Thanks in advance.Danny Parker

    It is an actual Colt signiture series. It's the real deal.Thanks for the quick reply. Danny

    Values vary considerably on the Signature Series as many collectors do not consider them as "genuine" Colts since they were made under license in Brooklyn, NY. That same company now makes the "Henry" brand rifles. For example, there's a Colt Signature Series 1860 Army fluted-cylinder model for sale for $359 with no reserve on Gunbroker.com auction #38531843 and a rebated-cylinder model for $659, Item #38649775.

    Lots of people quote those prices in "value" a subjective thing. But they aren't selling for that amount. Watch the sales for awhile.

    The prices people actually bid are the real value of any item. If you go to the Gunbroker home page & click on the SmartSearch link, you can look at completed auctions for similar guns. As Spider points out, what people ASK doesn't really tell you much.

    A gun like yours (assuming yours in unhandled & unturned) just got bids of up to $550, so that should be close to the "value" of yours.
