JC Higgins model 103.13
I'm trying to find the manufacturer of the jc higgins .22 rifle, model 103.13. I bought one for my daughter and the firing pin was the only part missing from the gun. If I can match the gun maker I could buy a similar firing pin for the same model they made. There is no part listing available from Numrich or Brownells. I'm hoping someone out there knows the answer or knows where to find a complete bolt assembly. Any help is much appreciated.

One of the guys will come up with your manufacturer identification, I cannot. However, I can tell you that you have bought one of the most accurate .22 rifles ever made. The one pictured below has been in our family since I was a boy (50 years or so, maybe more). I refinished the stock on it more that 10 years ago:

My cross reference list doesn't show a J.C. Higgins 103.13, but it does show a Sears 103.13 as being a Marlin Model 81, and Numrich (GunPartsCorp) seems to have a bunch of parts for those:

I agree, marlin 81, Frogberts pic is of an 81 also.

Yes , marlin model 81 , a good shooter , back in apx. 1977 I bought one of these , one of the most accurate .22 rifles I have everyowned !

Thank you, you're all very helpful, I really appreciate the information. While we're on a roll...I see the left side of the receiver is tapped for a peep sight, maybe? Does anyone know which sight would fit the best and where to start looking to buy one?

You might try over at gunpartscorp.com, forums, the NON-public forum, and check with DB. They have a section on the left side of the page called cross reference that comes in really handy to see who made the store brands- then go to that make and model- many have a schematic of the firearm- and see do that one look like your one. Good luck. DB found me a replacement hand for a 22 revolver that went out of production in 1941, and a replacement barrel for a 20 guage pump that is 50 years old. Nice folks.

It is not unusual for the rifle to say Higgins and the cross over lists to show Sears, and occasionally vise versa. 0 -
