colt pistol value

My brother has a Colt anaconda 6 inch Barrel 44 mag pistol in 98%+ condition with box and papers, he is trading it to a Coworker and needs a Value,Any help would be great guys.Thanks in advance.

    Picked up a blued, 4" six shoot Colt rev. with factory checkered grips. Don't know model number. It does read Police Positive . Serial #500045 Do you have age or value of such a pistol as this in poor ,...light surfacr rust , but very tight and safe to shoot? Thanks, gentlemen for your wealth of collective knowledge. Steve

    It is a 38acp and the condition is (sadly) poor. The grips however appear to be original and are in very good condition.

    Colt 1902's like that one can go for quite a bit, even in poor condition. From the photos, it appears to be quite rusted/pitted. If it has at least 30% original finish remaining, the bore is shootable, and it functions well enough to safely fire, I'd give it "poor" to "fair".

    I may be mistaken, but I'd just about bet that the grips are repros, not original - they look too new to be original to that gun.

    A commercial 1902 in that condition would be worth somewhere from $450 to maybe $550. Again, dependent on its functionability.

    If it has military markings (can't tell from the photos), about the same. However, if it's a military model in the serial number range from 15001-15200, it's worth somewhere from $600 to maybe $1000.

    Those are ballpark estimates - to really be able to grade the thing, I'd have to be able to handle it!
