410 single shot (EXCEL)

Today I traded for a 410 single shot, the name on the side says "EXCEL". Does anyone have any info on this gun ????

  I have just found out that the "EXCEL" name on the gun is a trade name of "Iver Johnson". This gun looks like an Iver Johnson "Champion". Serial # 62849 D. Any info. would be appreciated.

  'excel' was in deed a brand name used on single barrel shotguns between about 1910 and 1935. i do not have a serial number list for iver johnson single barrel shotguns but i believe serial numbers with a single letter suffix were from the early 1930's.
