i have the confederate .44, brass framed one. i have never been able to get the wedge out. how should i do this without messing up the blue?

I'm afraid that You'll have to bite the Bullet and use a Rawhide Mallet and give it a Tap....!Thats why its called a Wedge...If it were loose, the barrel assembly would be a Loose Fit.......

Right... It takes awhile for that piece to get finger loose.
