EAA Witness 45acp dissassembly help? Still no fix

Follwing instructons but cant get the spring and guide rod to come out. Cant lift it high enough to clear the barrel. Any tricks not in the manual?

    Is it some aftermarket 2-pc rod? Most of the Witness guns I've dealt with it was harder to keep the guide rod in then removing it.

    No the gun is new in the box. I am taking it apart to clean it thouroughly.

    Dunno, is the barrel in battery? Usually the guide rods come out pretty easy

    Yeah its in battery just fine. The damned end of the guide rod just looks like its too wide to clear.

    Does your slide look like this when it's removed?

    If it does just pull up on the left end like this.

    and it should come right out,this is a brand new gun and it's the first time I've taken it apart.No problem doing so. [:)]

    Here is how it comes out

    ANd this is as high as it will lift. It just wont clear to come out. This system is nothing new to me but its the first time I couldnt make one clear. Just wont lift high enough.

    Make sure you push it forward before you lift it. That's really strange,mine you just lift. [:)]

    Been there tried it....no not clearing

    I would call them and ask them if you can return just the slide assembly, that way you can send it by U.S.P S. Priority Mail insured.[:)]

    I have an FFL so thats not a problem. I have never faced soemthing like this in my life! Its like the end of teh guide rod is just too large in diameter.

    If the dia. was to large it would not set level like it does in your first picture.If it would help I'll measure the dia.of mine? [:)

    Seems like the only other thing in the way is the spring not allowing enough clearance.

    The larger part on the end is .0395 (three hundred and ninety five thousands).Hope this helps? [:)]
