CZ 50 Questions
I picked up a CZ 50 on whim at a gun show and when I began inspecting more closely at home I noticed that the hammer does not rest on the firing pin striker pad and does not make contact with the pad when I dry fire it. Is there something wrong here or is this how they are designed. If anyone has a link to a website with an owners manual I would greatly appreciate it.

No, it's a rebounding hammer setup, the hammer has a notch that prevents it from traveling forward unless the trigger is pulled. This reduces occurences of the gun accidentally firing from being dropped or hit on the hammer and it reduces the occurence of slam firing

But, it should contact the firing pin when you dry fire it. That is, if you dry fire it correctly. (With the chamber empty & empty mag inserted, cock the hammer. Pull the hammer slightly rearward & hold it, then pull & continue to hold the trigger back while you ease the hammer forward completely.)

Just a note here, don't dry-fire the CZ50 or CZ70 on without a snapcap in place, the firing pins are fragile

Take out the mag, clear the chamber, and stick a pencil down the barrel. Pull the trigger. Does the pencil jump? If yes, your pistol is fine.
