QUESTION ABOUT A NICKEL PYTHON
My buddy has a nickel python (beautiful gun) approx. 1980 but i noticed a few places where the nickel is a little thin ..front of the cylinder and edge of trigger, and I could see a little copper color or brass color showing through very slight, is this normal for a nickel gun with some wear or was it maybe redone? either way, if it was redone they did a dandy job.

Factory or bath tub job? If it's factory, send it back to Colt for a refinish. Well send it back in either case and have it done right. 0 -
It happens with plating.
Colt does not replate guns. Call Pittsburgh Handgun, 412-766-6100, as Colt refers replating requests to them.
But, I think your buddy should try to live with the gun. 2-way shipping alone will cost $150, so he's looking at a total of $400-500.

Colt nickel plated guns will show copper on worn spots. The nickel adheres better to copper than steel. The copper flash was put over the steel before the nickel. Probably better to live with the worn spots than to refinish. I think all the finish has to be removed before replating. Colt probably does not do its own nickel anymore, but their repair service may make a recommendation since they still sell custom shop guns with nickel plating. 0
