Custom Orders Springfield

About a year ago I asked Springfield Armory if they planned to make a all stainless model of their Micro-Compact .45. They said call back in a year or so and I did the other day.Sales said no plans to make one and the custom shop said no with no explanation. Anyone have any first hand or direct knowlwdge as to why this would be such a hard request? This ain't my first chili supper and I know how a machine shop operates even on small one-off orders. My buddy says they are set in their ways or just don't want to fool with it even if you pay for it which I said I would do,within reason.

    MFG would be an issue, as well as getting it imported. They BUild their guns henry ford style, they have no interest in building one special gun to make a hundred bucks extra. Springfields guns are made in Brazil for the most part and having to do paperwork on a one off would be a PITA.

    If you want a custom 1911, have it built by a pistolsmith.

    I once asked Kimber to build me an over the course rifle in 223 and cost wasn't an object. The answer was NO. They were to busy with their "standard" custom work with the firearms coming off of the production line to mess with it. It's a matter of throwing in a one time piece that may gum up the works and put one or two of their smiths on a project that will tie them up for to long. S&W and Remington have both built me just what I've asked for. I guess they have the people power to do that.

    i keep hearing of this micro gun that springfield makes but don't see it unless u are talking about the XD9821 which is a sub compact. it has a stainless steel slide nice looking wish they made a all metal gun in stainless though
