New stock for a Savage 110?
Okay, yesterday I was at Grices Gunshop in Clearfield, drooling over some new rifles. I can't afford to buy a new one, but holding all those rifles got me thinking. I realized the stock on my Savage feels like I'm holding a 2x4. I'm hoping to find a lmainate or a quality synthetic stock to replace it. Anyone have any favorites they can suggest?

Boyds makes a couple really nice laminated stocks for the Savage rifles.

Choate makes a Ultimate sniper and a Varmit edition, both are very heavy, both are made in a short action and a long action model, the sniper is O.D. Green and the varmit is black synthetic. I have a short action, black, factory synthetic available if interested. hatchettman2003@yahoo . com 0 -
I bought the "ultimate sniper" for savage 110, 308, about 4 years ago, wasn't a clean fit, not to light when bipod added. Unless they smoothed up the fit I would look elsewhere than choate. 0 -

I've put several of Boyd's JRS classic stocks on some Mauser 98s, they worked out well. The inletting was excellent around the action and the triggerguard, you just have to do the barrel channel and epoxy bed it if you want. I would expect that it would be the same for their JRS classic for the Savage 110, except hopefully the barrel channel would be done for the standard barrel. My only knock on laminate stocks is that they are quite a bit heavier then good dry walnut, so I would only put one on a heavy kicking rifle or a high accuracy one where the weight would be an asset. 0 -
