recoil buffer for SKS?

Is recoil buffer good idea for SKS?

I'm trying very hard not to be seduced by the dark side by
dandying up my SKS with lots of unnecessary doodads;)
But is a recoil buffer a worthwhile one? I know the SKS is a tough gun,
but I can't help wanting to baby it....

I did add a 1" recoil pad--Not that the kick bothered me,
but to help me hold the rifle and get a better trigger pull, as I have long arms.

No way will I put on hi capacity/removable magazines, based on what many have said about them jamming. If I wanted a hi-cap weapon, I'd get an AK.

Gotta admit,that Monte Carlo stock is tempting---Must resist...

    I added one to my SKS.

    I was interested in preserving the parts for as long as possible and eliminating the metal to metal contact. While the SKS is a very durable design (as you said) I like the extra insurance of the buffer with the recoil spring and bolt carrier that close to my face. You never know when a piece of steel may fail from fracture or fatique.

    I have noticed that the rifle seems to cycle with less clacking and the rifle functions as well as before installation. At any rate, for the small amount that a buffer costs, what can you loose?

    Yes recoil buffers are always good to use on a gun that you are going to do a lot of shooting with.
    I have one on both of my AK's and sks and 1911a1.

    Only slightly related to your post...but since your discussion is SKS 'doo dads', I'll ask.
    I thought I had seen a 5 rd mag that fit flush. I'm fixing up a couple SKS's for Christmas. One is to be a little 'de-militarized' (as opposed to sporterized ?), and a flush fit mag would fill the bill. Would you happen to know if someone markets this, or is my memory fritzed ?

    BTW I had one with the '30 rd duck bill mags' that actually worked fine for me. My podnuh couldn't make a mag change w/o cussing (the gun of course...he's a jar head),...so he just charges the mag with 2 or 3 strippers.

    So...back to the flush mag.... any clues ?
