Colt Frontier

Trying to find out the mfg date on this 44-40 Colt, barrel stamped "Colt Frontier Six Shooter". Serial #827**

Anyone know of a source where I could look it up myself?

  Thanks, I did that. Also had the local gunstore check it out it person. Seems that the Colt is something of a composite, newer parts on maybe an authentic 1884 frame.

  m.c.-if your Colt is a hybrid (newer parts on an 1884 frame) be extremely careful if you decide to shoot it; the frame is made for blackpowder pressures and could stretch or even crack if used with modern higher-pressure smokeless loads. This of course is true even if the critical parts (primarily the cylinder) are original. -Asa
